TalkTime on BEN interviews Yaarah Schools!

Last Friday, the 10th of September I was invited down to the BEN TV studios to talk about Yaarah Schools and share my opinions on their ‘Cultrural Values’ show. I was joined on the sofa by Edith the Founder of All Thingz Nice a luxury brand that creates bespoke tshirts. I was very nervous before it all got started but the wonderful hosts of the show Lems and Letitia did a good job calming me down and making me forget that the cameras were even rolling! Thanks ladies!
We spoke about many things including the importance of culture and the ideas behind cultures migrating and whether or not they are embraced enough by the younger generations. To be honest I found that once I get talking about something I’m quite passionate about I can talk forever but apparently it worked for the TalkTime team so it’s not a bad thing! Talking about the values of culture certainly brought home how lucky I am to have been able to embrace my Ghanaian culture from such a young age. A part of that culture includes understanding the importance of education in order to get anywhere in the future. I guess that is part of the reason what Yaarah Schools is doing, ‘providing learning lifeline for village children’ makes sense to me. After seeing the children of Aziedukope and speaking to them about their future aspirations; it doesn’t seem right to sit back and do nothing to help provide them with the basic classroom shelter that they need. With our help they can then be taught in proper classrooms in order to have a better learning experience and hopefully go on to work towards their dreams.
I’m not sure when the show will be going out on TV but I’ll be sure to keep you updated!
