Maire and Rob go to Ghana to build more classrooms!

Sep 22, 2010   //   by Yaarah Schools   //   Blog  //  No Comments

On Friday the 17th of September 2010, Maire Tejani (CEO and Founder of Yaarah Schools) and Rob Atkin began their journey to oversee the building of  some more classrooms in the village of Adaklu Aziedukope.  They managed to get all their luggage which included tool kits that would be distributed and some of the donated school books on without a problem.  The image above shows the two of them with their boarding pass looking very excited to be getting away from the cold spells we’ve experiencing over here in the UK.  They have now arrived safely and have started working on the project! There is no Internet access in the village but when they get back to Accra on weekend they are going to send us a big update of what they have been up to!  So watch this space for more update coming soon!!!

Last Friday, the 10th of  September I was invited down to the BEN TV studios to talk about Yaarah Schools and share my opinions on their ‘Cultrural Values’ show.  I was joined on the sofa by Edith the Founder of All Thingz Nice a luxury brand that creates bespoke tshirts.  I was very nervous before it all got started but the wonderful hosts of the show Lems and Letitia did a good job calming me down and making me forget that the cameras were even rolling! Thanks ladies! Read more >>

So our first major event, FUSIONITE turned out to be a great night! Despite the tube strikes and the rain – people turned out to enjoy a glamourous night of fashion, music and food! The Yaarah Schools Team would like to say thank you to everyone that helped to organise, that participated, that supported and that attended FUSIONITE.  Each and everyone of you helped the event to be the success that it was!

Official pictures for the event will be up soon!
