Eager eager eager!

On the bus today I heard a young man complaining about having to go to back to school when the weather was so nice outside, “I wish I could just not go to school for another week and chill out in the sun! Back to School…!

As most children in the United Kingdom returned to school day I found myself thinking back to my first day at Aziedukope Primary. This happened to be day they were return back to school after their Easter break. When you talk about a passion to learn I will always remember the kindergarten class in particular who are always full of so much enthusiasm. I have a video showing the initiative these young children have. In the video I caught them organising themselves to play a game whilst waiting for their teacher who had not yet returned from the farms. They out of all the students I met were always smiling and were willing to try and find alternatives in any situation! If at first you don’t succeed try and try again!
Exceeding Expectations

From Maire mixing cement for the foundations (see pic above) to the roofing being laid (see pic below), the building of the first two classrooms has certainly being an interesting journey! The Yaarah Schools team members that travelled to Ghana came with the intention to build one classroom but we exceeded our own expectations and manage to do two! And so the building begins to take shape…

Now that the foundations have been completeled it was time to start the walls of the classroom…! As you can see from the picture above they have almost completed the wall with a fraction of my help. Those block are HEAVY!!! Take it from me after carrying about 8 I was finished! Although it seems the men involved in the building side of things were much more impressed with my efforts this time! Yay! It was one of them who slyly too took the pictures of my struggle when I gave him the camera to hold! Cheeky! There are loads of pics but not the greatest connection where I am! So stay tuned people! Thanks.
