Donated stationary

In the past few months many people have taken the time to donate goods to Yaarah Schools to be sent to Adaklu Aziedukope Primary School.  Donations have ranged from puzzles to soft toys to classroom supplies as you can see from the pictures.  So far we have shipped over 4 barrels full of things for the school at a total cost of £120 per barrel.

Yaarah Schools has being moved by the generosity of people all over who have dug into their pockets and those who have dug out old school books which they no longer use or were going to throw away, to pass on to the school.  Some have also provided us with brand new teaching books which will ensure the teaching staff as a wider variety of materials to use.  We are continually taking financial donations and donations of school supplies so please do not feel that you have missed your chance to help just because some barrels have gone already! No excuses people – donate your time to go through old things and remember one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! !

Marie Tejani the CEO of Yaarah Schools and I are going over to Ghana in the next few weeks to meet the goods when they arrive in Ghana and ensure they are given to the relevant individuals, be it school children or teachers.  The headteacher and village elders had the cement needed to create the 1,400 blocks for the building of the first classroom delivered to them at the beginning of March.  By sending the village the material instead of the money to buy the materials we can ensure that money is not being spent in the wrong way.  It also gives them some real ownership of the project, knowing that they have the materials to start ‘Creating Classrooms’ for their children.  The skilled labourers in the village are currently in the process of making the cement blocks ready for building work to start by the end of March!
