Courage of the children to simply ask

After last year’s visit the villagers began to do more as a community to support Adaklu Aziedukope Primary School.  When the schoolchildren really wanted to take part in the District Culture Festival at Kpetoe, but had no transport they thought they had lost out on a big day of fun and competition.  Not sure how they could fund transport they found the courage to try and get the whole village to help.  Read more >>

Yaarah Schools theme for February is COURAGE which follows on nicely from January’s theme of DREAMS.  So you have a dream but do you have the courage to follow it through or is yours going to be one of the many than don’t get further than simply being said.  My good friend Tope Ajiboye recently reminded me that “a graveyard is full of ingenious ideas that were never explored….don’t let your dreams die with you, have the courage to do something about it today.” Read more >>

Nelson Mandela…an African icon of hope

On this day 20 years ago Nelson Mandela was released in the first major steps towards the end of the apartheid in South Africa.  In 1964 he sentence to life imprisonment for plotting to use violence to oust the ruling government.  Aged 71 and after 27 years of imprisonment Mandela walked out of Victor Verster Prison a free man; an event that was watch by millions across the globe.  Read more >>

Helping hands

History has taught us that a lot of positive is derived from tragedies. The recent massive destruction of Haiti done by an earthquake has re-opened the eyes of the world as to what we value the most.  Watching the disaster in Haiti, we have seen people who have lost their families and properties, cry their hearts out for the families they have lost, forgetting about the expensive buildings that have gone down.  Read more >>
