Small charities, BIG QUESTIONS and Birthday cake!

Yaarah Schools was lucky to be invited to attend the Small Charities Coalition ‘Small charities, BIG Questions’ event on the 20th of January 2010. It gave us an opportunity to have a question and answer session with the Charities Commission and the HMRC. Dream BIG!

Every month Yaarah Schools is going to have a theme to give a focus on some of the things we are trying to achieve. This month’s theme is going to be ‘DREAMS’. The children and the villagers of Adaklu Aziedukope dream of having a school building in which their lessons can be taught without being disrupted by the weather or lack of facilities. Read more >>
So….why this village school?

When speaking to people about the Yaarah Schools project everyone always asks ‘But why this village, what’s so special about it?’ I always respond by asking the individual to try searching Aduklu Aziedukope on Google. What one will find when they do is that due to its rural location, this particular area of Ghana is relatively unknown. Children in such rural areas are still entitled to the opportunity to learn and Yaarah Schools aims to bring structures to such locations in order to ensure these village children can make the most of this opportunity. Fundraising in 2009
2009 ended on a high with Yaarah Schools raising over of £600 in December alone. A number of fundraising events took place and a several networking events meant that we were able to reach out to more people who could help Yaarah Schools including Dan Mason. On the 9th of December we hosted our first major event at the Caxton House Social Club of the Department of Work and Pensions alongside the Department of Children Schools and Families.
